Intensive Behavior Support Rate Add-On
Supporting youth with complex behavioral health needs and their families is a statewide priority. In collaboration with the governor's office, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Ohio Family & Children First, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) developed the Intensive Behavior Support Rate Add-On (IBSRAO) rule. This rule will enable Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICFIID) to received enhanced reimbursement through a per diem rate add-on for providing short-term, intensive behavioral support to youth ages 10 through 17 with dual diagnosis of mental illness and intellectual disability, violent and aggressive behaviors toward self and others, and a history of significant trauma. Very often these youth are unable to get intensive treatment and supports in their home and there is a need to be placed in an out of home residential setting in order to get the youth stabilized and determine the support needs of the family. This rule is one component of a statewide initiative to support youth with complex behavioral health needs and their families.
The rule and the application can be found on the DODD website.
Applications will be accepted until Monday, November 2, 2020. Please continue to visit the website for the most up to date information about the application process.
