PASRR
The Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review is often called PASRR for short.
The PASRR assessment is completed before a person moves into a nursing home. It's an evaluation with questions designed to see if a person has a serious mental illness or developmental disability to ensure the facility can address their needs.
Anyone can administer the PASRR, however the assessment is typically initiated by a hospital discharge planner or nursing facility social worker. Once the PASRR has been initiated, it is sent to DODD when an indication of a developmental disability or a related condition is noted.
DODD will review for accuracy and send a notification to the county board of developmental disabilities to complete a face-to-face interview and evaluation of the person. The county board will evaluate the person’s needs including any need for specialized services and submit a recommendation to DODD.
