NMT, Transportation Rate Changes Coming to MSS

All changes for Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) and Transportation service rates will be available for use in the Medicaid Services System (MSS) December 20, 2019.

The current services for Transportation and NMT mileage will be re-labeled. Transportation will be labeled as Transportation Non-Modified Vehicle. NMT will read as Non-Medical Transportation Non-Modified Vehicle. If you are adding these services prior to February 1, 2020, you will see the change in the unscheduled services and calendars, and the Vehicle Type will be defaulted to Non-Modified in the drop-down.

As the Vehicle Type will be defaulted to Non-Modified Vehicle, the costs will be projected at the Non-Modified Vehicle rates. If the Vehicle Type should be Modified, the county board will need to access the record, select "Modified" under the drop-down and rerun the site in order for costs to be projected at the higher rates. Please note, the Vehicle Type of Modified cannot be selected for any dates of service prior to February 1, 2020.

The service codes for Transportation and NMT mileage services in non-modified vehicles are not changing. ATN, FTN, ETN and STN remain as the service codes for Transportation, and ATW, FTW, and STW remain as the service codes for NMT at the per-mile rate in non-modified vehicles.

When adding the new NMT and Transportation services for mileage after February 1, 2020, MSS will default the Vehicle Type to Non-Modified in the drop-down. If the provider will be using a modified vehicle, then you will need to change the Vehicle Type to Modified.

The new modified vehicle services have new service codes. ATO, FTO, and STO are the new service codes for Transportation, and ATX, FTX, and STX are the new service codes for NMT at the per-mile rate in modified vehicles.

DODD will conduct Transportation and NMT rate automation. View this memo.
