Grant Opportunities

DODD competitively awards grants for work that supports Ohio's developmental disabilities system and the department's mission of continuous improvement of the quality of life for Ohioans with developmental disabilities and their families. All competitive grants follow a similar award process with some variation due to the funding source and program structure.

All questions and application materials must be submitted to dodd.grant.applications@dodd.ohio.gov. Subject lines of emails must contain the applicant’s organization name and the project name identified on the Request for Proposal, known as an RFP.

Grant proposals, the Grant Application Form, and any other required documentation identified in this RFP must be submitted electronically to dodd.grant.applications@dodd.ohio.gov.

Housing & Technology Project

DODD is seeking proposals from eligible housing corporations across Ohio to build supportive technology infrastructure capacity  and to increase the use of innovative technologies within homes where people with developmental disabilities live. This could include innovative technology solutions to increase safety, independence, and control for people with developmental disabilities.

•    Nonprofit housing corporation as defined in Ohio Administrative Code 5123-1-03
•    Nonprofit corporation incorporated pursuant to Chapter 1702. of the Revised Code, granted 501(c)(3) status by the internal revenue service that primarily provides services to persons with developmental disabilities who receive services from county boards of developmental disabilities. 
•    County Boards of Developmental Disabilities or Councils of Government CB who partner with one of the following:

  • Nonprofit housing corporation as defined in Ohio Administrative Code 5123-1-03.
  • Nonprofit corporation incorporated pursuant to Chapter 1702. of the Revised Code, granted 501(c)(3) status by the internal revenue service that primarily provides services to persons with developmental disabilities who receive services from county boards of developmental disabilities.

Applicant shall not be subject to an “unresolved” finding for recovery under Section 9.24 of Ohio Revised Code.

Innovative Technology Solutions

DODD is seeking proposals from eligible applicants to increase the use of innovative technologies within service delivery and service operations for individuals with developmental disabilities. This could include innovative technology solutions to expand service delivery, improve business operations, or improve individuals’ access to transportation.

•    County boards of developmental disabilities or Councils of Government; 
•    Intermediate care facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities; 
•    An agency provider in Ohio that is certified by DODD, pursuant to OAC 5123:2-2-01; or
•    Any technology company that can demonstrate expertise in technology for people with developmental disabilities.

Pathways to Careers SFY 23-24

The Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking proposals from eligible applicants to improve post-secondary education options for young adults with developmental disabilities related to industry-recognized credentials and apprenticeships that lead to successful employment offering higher pay and benefits. 

The eligible applicants for this grant must be one of the following: 
• Adult Programs within Career Technical Schools;
• Ohio Technical Centers; or
• Institutions of higher education with experience in providing individual supports and services for the academic and social inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities in academic courses, extracurricular activities, and other aspects of the institution of higher education’s regular postsecondary program.  Comprehensive Transition and Post-Secondary Program Certification (preferred).
