Human Trafficking

The State of Ohio has fought hard to combat trafficking, raise awareness and offer resources in our state. One of the many efforts includes the development of Governor Kasich's Human Trafficking Taskforce. The Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force was formed to organize state agency resources in an effort to identify and rescue victims, create a coordinated law enforcement system to investigate and prosecute human trafficking crimes, and to provide the services and treatment necessary for victims to regain control of their lives.

Eleven state agencies are members of the task force that has identified service and training gaps and offered recommendations to close the gaps.

As an active participant in the Task Force efforts, DODD strongly supports these recommendations. DODD has hosted training for professionals within the statewide developmental disabilities service system who, at the grassroots level, can be key players in recognizing and combating human trafficking.
